Essential oils

Solid vegetable oils

Butters

Herbs

Natural scents

Stainless steel pots

Stainless steel spoons

Plastic pitchers

Thermometer

Electric hand mixer

Blanket

Eyes protection device

Rubber gloves

Smock

1

Gather your products. Before you get started, make sure you have all of the necessary products you need to work with. Place your soap recipe where you can easily refer to it throughout the process.

2

Set your scale. To insure you have an accurate weight measure, do not forget to set your scale to zero. Once your scale is set, measure out all of your ingredients and set them aside in the order that you will use them.

3

Make a solution mixture. Using a stainless steel pot, mix lye with spring water, this solution will give off heat to nearly 200 degrees in a short amount of time. Use caution when working with this mixture to avoid accidental burns. Set solution aside, allowing it to cool down to about 100 degrees.

4

Melt your fats. Mix together your solid organic vegetable oil and butters, heat to a 100 degree temperature long enough to blend solids. For best results, use a stainless steel pot. Add your exotic oils to this blended mixture. Once your water and lye solution has cooled down to 100 degrees, carefully pour it into this mixture.

5

Make some glycerin. Using a hand mixer, blend this mixture together quickly. The lye and fats will bond together creating a new solution of glycerin. The mixture now resembles whipped pudding. It is at this point you want to add herbs, botanicals and any essentials. The consistency will start to thicken more. Now it is time to pour it into a soap mold and cover to insulate for 24 to 48 hours. Remove from molds, shape and let it cure or dry out and harden for at least a month.
